"The Importance of Loving the Prophet Muhammad ﷺis an extract taken from Qadi 'lyad's renowned and celebrated work al-Shifa. This section is published in an easy to read bilingual format focused specifically on a single topic from al-Shifa. This volume focuses on the profound obligation of loving the Prophet ﷺ. Through carefully selected Qur'anic verses and hadiths, this book explores why love for Allah's Messenger ﷺ is not merely an emotional attachment, but also a foundational requirement for every believer, and show that true faith is incomplete without prioritizing the Prophet's love over all worldly attachments, including family, wealth, and even one's own self.
The book delves deeply into the rewards and signs of loving the Prophet ﷺ. It recounts profound and moving stories from the lives of his Companions, such as 'Umar ibn al-Khattab and Anas ibn Malik, whose devotion and sacrifices highlight the exemplary love Muslims are encouraged to emulate. The volume further covers essential topics such as the rewards of this love, including the promise of being with the Prophet ﷺ in the Hereafter, and the traits of those who truly internalize this love."- Amazon

Section 5: The Meaning and Reality of Love
Qadi Iyad concludes by defining the theological and psychological nature of "love" (Mahabbah) within Islamic scholarship. He breaks down how human love typically stems from either appreciating beauty, experiencing kindness, or recognizing perfection. Because the Prophet ﷺ embodies the absolute pinnacle of character, mercy, and guidance, he holds the ultimate right to the believer's absolute affection—ultimately serving as the perfect conduit to the love of Allah Himself.
I can relate to the things that I read in Treasury of Aisyah by Sofia Rehman, the prayer that the Prophet stated: "All prophets before me had one prayer that was so powerful. I have not used my grand prayer to Allah; I want to use it later in the Yaumul Hisab, to ask Allah's blessing to forgive all of my people". I hope that by loving him, doing what He loves, following Him, and sending salawat to him, to trully embrace how amazing a human he is as our example, and gain Allah's love as well. To be gathered with the Prophet in the afterlife is our dear dream: to finally meet with this great, most humble, smart, excellent, loving, brave, and all the things that make us admire him.

"If you can admire a king for their wisdom and excellence in leading. The Prophet SAW is far more deserving than they are. He is the one who asks Allah to give you His blessing, forgive you, and let you enter Heaven."
