"Alice celebrates the special moments and the everyday blessings of life.
Come sit awhile with Alice Taylor. Take a little time out – to rest, to think, or just to be.
Life can race along at a fast pace, sometimes almost stampeding us along with it. What a pity not to slow down and take the time to enjoy little things, or simply doing nothing or chatting with a good friend. Sometimes Alice finds a comfortable place to sit, maybe a low wall, a garden seat or a grassy bank. A place to let the mind calm
down and let thoughts drift. With this book she invites you to share the special moments of life." Amazon Book.
- Overall flow:
- Taking Time to Pause: Reflections on slowing down in a fast-paced world, finding physical and mental spaces to rest (like sitting on a low wall, garden bench, or grassy bank), and allowing thoughts to drift.
- Everyday Blessings: Short pieces celebrating small, routine pleasures; sharing a cup of tea, conversation with neighbors, and appreciating nature.
- Nature and Environment: Lyrical prose and poems observing the Irish rural landscape, seasonal shifts, and the restorative quality of the outdoors.
- Community and Connection: Stories and observations focused on human connection, stillness, and the importance of taking time for oneself and others.
What I Loved
It is a mix of poetry and non-fiction. And I appreciate many little things, like trees, honey, and time alone for "bengong". Feel the grass, feel the air.
Alice brings her religious self as a Catholic to contemplate, taking her time as she slows down.
Slowing down can be done when you're tired, when you lose someone, and when you grieve. Good friends and company would help a lot too. Have that conversation with them; start easy.
